A specialist nursery for collectors
Caudex Collective exists for people who notice the shape of a caudex, the spines on a Pachypodium stem or the slow character of a well-grown bonsai. We focus on a deliberately narrow range: Pachypodiums, caudiciforms, collector succulents, bonsai and selected South African indigenous plants — plus the substrates, pots and tools that help them thrive.
What we stand for
- Accurate identification. Every plant is listed under its botanical name. Where taxonomy is unsettled we say so rather than guess.
- Honest descriptions. We state how a plant was propagated, how it is supplied (potted or bare-root) and its measured size. When the photos show the exact plant you will receive, we say so; when they are representative, we say that too.
- Responsible sourcing. Many caudiciforms and all Pachypodium species are CITES-listed, and several South African species are protected. We keep provenance and permit records for regulated plants and only offer them where we can supply them lawfully.
- Useful education. Our Plant Care Guide gives species-appropriate advice for South African conditions, because there is no single watering schedule that suits every plant.
