Pre-bonsai or finished bonsai?
Pre-bonsai is nursery material with a promising trunk but little or no training. Established bonsai have been styled, pruned and potted over several years. Each listing states which you are buying.
Bonsai basics
Most bonsai are outdoor trees. Water when the surface of the soil begins to dry — in summer that can be daily — and never let the root ball dry out completely. Feed during the growing season and repot every few years in early spring.
